Collaboration with the Ukrainian Psychotherapeutic League

On 11/30/24, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Psychotherapeutic League, I provided a webinar on the foundational methods of PTSD treatment, how we can build resilience even when trauma is still happening, and a trauma treatment approach called the International Association of Trauma Professionals’ Narrative Exposure Treatment.

I'm without words. This was an opportunity to speak to a community of people who have demonstrated more courage and resilience than I could ever hope to imagine. To say this was an honor would be quite the understatement.

We’re in the process of arranging a means for donations to be provided to this wonderful organization. Please return to this space for an update.

“Maine Calling: Ways to use resilience to survive and thrive after suffering trauma”

I joined Maine Public Radio for an hour-long talk about trauma recovery for their Maine Calling series. It was live and we took quite a few calls in the second half. I was so grateful for the opportunity to join the discussion and happy to have met such a wonderful group of people!

Recovery and growth from the trauma of 9/11

I was contacted by a journalist named Cat Lafuente, who had lost her father in the 9/11 attacks and wanted to collaborate for a piece she was writing. Cat’s story of her recovery is incredible, and it was an honor to be involved.

Trauma holds a widespread presence. It runs rampant in our communities, our neighborhoods, and our families. Unfortunately, many of us have first-hand knowledge of what it's like to be haunted by memories of physical, emotional or sexual abuse, of terrible accidents, or of events in military service, among other things. Despite how prevalent trauma is in our society, a lot of survivors feel very alone in what they've been through, and in what they have to endure on a regular basis. My hope in writing this book was not only to assure survivors and their loved ones that recovery is possible, but to back those claims up with comprehensive details and explanations about how it's done.

Trauma and Resilience: Your Questions Answered is now available in hardcover and e-version, and can be bought at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million and other bookstores.
