Open discussion with students of psychology and counseling

Students:
If you're an undergraduate or graduate psychology or counseling student, or a prospective student, and have any questions about working in the field of counseling / mental health, please feel free to contact me. I’d be happy to answer them!

Professors:
I've been invited to speak to college classes for students in psychology and counseling programs about the experience and process of entering the field and developing a career as a counselor, and specifically about treatment of trauma. I've found this to be an absolute pleasure and would be happy to talk with you if you'd like me to have a similar discussion with your class.

Training for professionals in the
IATP Narrative Exposure Therapy Method

The International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP) narrative exposure therapy method was designed by J. Eric Gentry, Ph.D., LMHC, a recognized leader and trainer of clinical traumatology.

This method stands out with its focus on productive pacing, by maintaining a "relaxed muscle body" and processing trauma in a way that is productive without becoming overwhelming. It's a deliberately paced approach which integrates trauma memories and helps to transform the sensory fragments of the experience into a sequenced narrative, pairing exposure with relaxation.

I was taught this method in the course of my training as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and Dr. Gentry kindly gave his permission for me to train this approach to others. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Training for professionals in motivational interviewing

I've been trained in teaching motivational interviewing in agencies, institutions and schools. If you’re interested in incorporating this approach in your practice or agency, a workshop can be a great start!

Fair warning: I admittedly do tend to keep a busy extended schedule - if that prevents me from being personally available to schedule a 4-6 hour or multi-day workshop for you within your planned timeline, I can also do my best to connect you with some other MI training resources in the area.

Education in self-hypnosis

I was trained and certified as a hypnotherapist by the National Guild of Hypnotism in 2008, and was certified as a self-hypnosis instructor by the Mottin & Johnson Institute of Hypnosis.

Other speaking engagements

I've been a guest speaker at several community events about the impact of PTSD and effective treatments for trauma in adults and children. Please don't hesitate to call if you would like to discuss your event and the topic you'd like presented.
